Nix ‘s Daring Dota 2 Fix: Ending Long Matches for Good?
Nix, Streamer and ex pro player Alexander ‘Nix’ Levin has proposed an interesting feature to Valve that would solve the issue of extremely long matches of Dota 2. According to him the game could allow players to end the match from their end by ‘finishing off the enemy throne’ for 50,000 gold.
“There's some pro players that stall the game for such a long time. Just go and end the game already. What kind of a developer enjoys watching a game last for an hour? Here’s what I think they should do: allow people with over 50k gold to open a shop and buy a nuclear weapon. This weapon could be used to blow up the enemy throne, which only has 4500HP. But this weapon does 150,000 worth of damage. Have $50,000? Boom. Pay up and just like that, you would have a victory. I firmly believe that this would be a reasonable move by the devs”
Nix raises a very valid point. Very few people enjoy watching a game fit into the category of exceedingly long. This problem would have an easy fix with the ability to end a match early if one side has a team with greater gold. After all this could fix a lot of issues, which is why Nix believes the developers should consider making this change.
It’s worth noting that a lot of viewers and casters have voiced their grievances over matches that are willfully stretched for an hour or more. However, Nix himself has claimed that he will not be streaming any more Dota 2 tournaments
